Described as one of the nation's largest and most popular events of its kind, the sponsors of "National Train Day Toledo" offer a family-friendly atmosphere with FREE ADMISSION and FREE PARKING. The story is "Rail," lifting up its heritage as well as embracing its future This year's special emphasis will observe the 125'h anniversary of the LAKE SHORE LIMITED - currently Amtrak's trains #48 and #49. Other presentations will highlight progress toward a a Toledo-Detroit/Ann Arbor train, and, "What exactly is High Speed Rail?" There will be over 40 exhibitors including history organizations, model enthusiasts, layouts, rail advocates, children's activities (children's train ride and play area, etc.), musicians and food.

Why:

The goal is to increase community awareness of the critical role of passenger and freight rail in our multimodal
transportation system. Passenger Rail is a viable option for travel. Freight Railroads promote public safety around
railroad infrastructure and highlight their contributions to improving the environment as well as regional economic
development.

Where:

The Thirteenth Annual Train Day will take place at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza/Amtrak Station (trackside) and the adjacent Children's Park, 300 Martin Luther King jr. Drive, Toledo, OH 43604. Served by TARTA buses. Additional free parking is available at the Owens Corning lot with free shuttle to the event.

When:

9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022.  An Opening Ceremony begins at 9:30. A Rail Roundtable Panel will follow, featuring many of the Opening Ceremony Speakers.
